My Dad (Jack’s beloved “Papa”), Jack-Evan, Maggie-Jo and I all ventured downtown last week to catch our city’s annual veteran’s day parade.

I thought it would be a brilliant idea to catch a family photo of us for posterity.

Once upon a time, my mommy told me that she didn’t like diapers anymore.

So she taught me how to use a big bowl that she calls a potty.

(Potty sounds so unsophisticated, but I’m sure she knows what she’s talking about.  After all, she is mommy.)

Well, If you can remember, a couple years ago I headed a large duck rescue mission.

I could liberate my ducky friends even more by teaching them this cool new skill….

I can’t believe it’s already been 6 weeks since our baby girl was born! This weekend marked her dedication at church. A dedication is where Christian parents “give” their child back to the Lord and make a promise to raise up their child to follow Christ – and the church promises to be there with support and guidance for the couple raising the child. It’s a promise our family takes very seriously and this day marks a very special time in my little girl’s life. My husband’s sister and her family even came from another state to celebrate Maggie’s special day!

I can only pray that the Lord will see fit to help me be the mom that my children NEED most, and not just the mom I “want” to be.

We celebrated Jack-Evan’s 2nd birthday with a small family celebration yesterday.  Hard to believe it’s been 2 years since I gave birth to him!

The 2nd pregnancy is going great…only a week and a half left before the due date.  Jack’s baby sister will be named “Maggie-Jo” in honor of 2 grandmothers (Kevin’s was Joanne and mine was Margaret).  I am absolutely thrilled to be having a baby girl and although Jack doesn’t realize what a life changing event is about to occur, he is able to tell people where “baby sister” is by pointing to mommy’s tummy. :)

In other news…

Thank you to all who have written me comments and nice notes during my absence!  I haven’t blogged really at all during this pregnancy because I can’t figure out what in the world is wrong with my WordPress set up.  I’ve tried moving the blog to another updated database on my host but I can’t get my old posts exported & then imported correctly.  And when using this blog set up, none of my comments can be approved.  I approve them and then 2.7 seconds later they’re back in moderation.  I’ve upgraded wordpress to various different versions… I’ve even tried downgrading… and it all has to be done manually through FTP b/c the automatic upgrade thingy in wordpress admin doesn’t.work.either. GRRR.   I’ve tweaked settings, dug into the code, checked my hosts settings, checked php & mysql settings, googled in desparation.  I spent the weekend working on it a few months back hoping everything would turn out ok but nothing worked.  I had great plans on posting cute things I was doing with Jack as far as his education goes but everytime I would sit down to think about writing a new post, I would be hit in the face with a “DOH, I forgot the blog is wonky” realization.

It’s extremely frustrated so (as yall have surely noticed by now) I’ve just abandoned posting  until I have the time and energy to devote to figuring out how to fix everything on the back end.  I don’t want to just start anew because I love having all of my old posts here in the archives (they date back to January 2008 when I was 6 months pregnant with Little Jack – it’s kinda like my own little diary of his life).  So for now I’m stuck with a frustrating can’t-figure-it-out blog.

Hopefully I’ll figure it out over the summer and get everything working again.

Anyway, thought I would drop in despite the frustration and post a picture of the cute little cake I made for Jack-Evan. :)  He loves strawberries but doesn’t like cake.  Sooo…I had thought a strawberry filled cake (the insides were hollowed out and filled with strawberry pie filling) would entice him.

He took all of two bites.  Oh well. :)  At least we got some cute shots of him for the photo album!

It snowed 8 inches here in mid-SC on Friday!  It was the deepest snow we have had here in 10 years and the 5th deepest day on record!  Those of you who live up north may not understand the excitement :)  but us southerners look at snowfall as a gift.

Perhaps though that’s only because it lasts a day or so then everything is right back to normal.  We may not feel so happy about it if we had to put up with snow for 4-5 months at a time!

Regardless, we were all dancing in the streets and building snowmen galore.

On an even happier note, Jack-Evan (who will be two in May!  can you believe it? ) has his very first Valentine’s social tomorrow morning with a group of kids from our local Mommy’s Play Group.  I have some very yummy sugar cookies ready to go (the kids are decorating cookies with icing & sprinkles) and a package of valentines with suckers.  I felt a little bad at first that they’re not homemade cutesy wootsy kind (I’m really NOT into paper crafts), but I got over that feeling really fast.  The ones we did get are adorable little boy sport ones with removable Tatoos.  Quite good enough in my books.  :)   My husband got quite a kick outta watching me boohoo over the baking pan whiles I was spatula’ing out the sugar cookies.  I’m such a sentimental old sap…. my baby is growing up far too fast.  Did I not just give birth to him?
