My First Halloween

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, typed by Mommy)

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

Once upon a time, I went trick or treating with my mom and dad.

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

I was a lion, Dad was a yankee farmer, and mom was a southern country girl.

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

Since I can’t eat candy yet…

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

…my Grammy gave me some baby food in my goodie bag!

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

Next we treated my Abuella (Daddy’s birth mom).

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

Then we went to Aunt Mae’s house.
(She is my Grammy’s sister)

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

She’s one of *those* Aunts who is always kissing my chubby cheeks.

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

We had a lot of fun visiting!

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

And finally, we made our way over to cousin Tammy’s house…

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

where we saw Willy Wonka…

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

…Bat Woman…

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

…and a really funny guy with yummy hair.
(Mom says he’s my cousin.  I didn’t want to believe her.)

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

After roasting some marshmellows

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

We said goodbye to everyone

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

And went back to my Grammy and Papa’s house
for the rest of the evening.

The End.

P.S.  Please tell mommy to stop eating my candy.
Thanks, Love, Jack-Evan

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, typed by Mommy)

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

I went to the park just the other day

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

To swing on the swings

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

And watch Daddy play

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

I laid in the grass

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

And watched an ant pass

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

When I went to the park just the other day

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

I slid down the slides

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

And played at the end

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

Then swung from the bars

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

And caught up with my twin

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

When I went to the park just the other day

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

Playing around

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

Without a care

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

Would only be funner

Trip to the Park 10-26 by you.

If you were there

…when I go to the park another day.

We’ve Got to Save the Honey Bees

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, typed by Mommy)

100_2306 by you.

Hello.  Jack-Evan here with an urgent message.

100_2980 by you.

In my quest to save the ducks,
I have stumbled upon an even more important mission.

100_2959 by you.

We must now work very hard to save the Bees, for I have just learned that
they lead a very hard life behind a small piece of glass,
slaving away to make honey for humans.

100_2947 by you.

Although she eats it herself, Mommy says I can’t have honey.
She also says I can’t have a bee.
How can she condone bee slavery?

100_2967 by you.

My Papa won’t let bees stay in his bathtub with the rescued ducks.
So I have made them a new home to live in.
Please go out and rescue a honey bee tomorrow.

100_2964 by you.

It will make me very happy.  Thank you.

(P.S.  Do not tell mommy)

The End. :)

What Your Parents Don’t Know

Once in a while, my husband will whisk the baby away for some grand daddy-son time whilst mommy gets to revel in a longer-than-5-second bath.  Tonight was one of those nights.

Sitting Laying there in the tub, covered with Mr. Bubble brand bubbles, I spent 43.8 glorious minutes floating between half asleep and half awake.  I was completely alone.  You know, like, with no one around

Just me, golden silence, and Mr. Bubbles.

Finally Kevin arrives home and walks in the bathroom with the baby in his arms to announce their arrival.  Like the sweet man he is, he hands me a Starbucks coffee that he picked up on the way home (isn’t he awesome?).

Just then, my cell phone (which is perched on the toilet lid) begins to ring.

Now, seeing that I’m slathered with water and suds, it wouldn’t bode well if I answered the phone, because with my luck, it would have immediately resulted in dropping it under those wonderful bubbles.

Kevin glances down at it and tells me it’s my mom.  Then I watch as he hurridly turns towards the door to leave, with the baby in his arms.

Me:  Well?  Aren’t you gonna answer it for me?

Kev:   No way!  I don’t want your mom to know I’m in here with you!

How can you argue with that?

Make Toasted Pumpkin Seeds (In 18 Baby Steps)

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, Typed by Mommy)

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

…testing…testing…Hello?  Is this thing on?

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

Yes?  …ok.. Hello, Jack-Evan here, reporting from the pumpkin patch.
Today I am going to show you how to make toasted pumpkin seeds.

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

The first thing you need to make pumpkin seeds is, well, a pumpkin.
If you are not allowed to handle knives, you’ll also need a mommy.

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

Then, you will be removing the top to reveal the yummy seeds inside.

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

Reach your hand inside, and begin scooping them out.

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

(See?  Isn’t it easy so far?)

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

Or you may simply choose to remove them through the pumpkin’s nose.
(Although I wouldn’t recommend it)

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

After your pumpkin is empty….

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

….your bowl will be full.

100_2513 by you.

You will then need to separate the seeds from the stringy flesh.
Put the flesh in the ‘fridge, and leave the seeds out.
(Don’t bother rinsing them.  You want this to be easy.)

100_2514 by you.

Melt some butter in the microwave, and pour it on the seeds.
Use your hands to mix up the seeds so they all get coated with yummy butter.

100_2520 by you.

Assemble your seasonings of choice.
Mommy makes 3 different coatings using salt, garlic, and cinnamon-sugar.

100_2516 by you.

Sprinkle some salt on your pan.

100_2521 by you.

Spread your seeds out in a flat layer on your pan(s).
Mommy seasoned the top pan with salt, and split the second pan
between the garlic and sugar seasonings.

100_2518 by you.

Heat your oven to 275F.

100_2522 by you.

Place your seasoned seeds in the oven.
(Don’t forget to close the door)

100_2523 by you.

Set the timer for an hour, and press start.

100_2527 by you.

Go have yourself a snack of something orange in celebration of the fall.
In your excitement, though, please do not eat the raw pumpkin flesh.
Smooshed Carrots will work just fine.

100_2530 by you.

When your timer dings, remove your toasted seeds and let them cool down

100_2531 by you.

Store in baggies, and label them so your tastebuds will know what to expect.

100_2533 by you.

….and that’s how you make toasted pumpkin seeds.

The End. :)

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Jack-Evan!

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, Typed by Mommy)

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

“IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, JACK-EVAN!”

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

Hello!  Linus…uh..I mean, Jack-Evan here.
Has anyone seen my pencil and paper?  I have a letter to write.

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

Dear, Great Pumpkin.  I’m looking forward to your arrival on Halloween night.
I hope you will bring me lots of presents….

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

“Who are you writing to?”  asks Gabby the dog.

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

This is the time of year to write to the Great Pumpkin.
You see, on halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises out of his pumpkin patch
and flies through the air with a bag of toys for all of the children.

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

Wouldn’t you like to sit with me on halloween night
and watch for the Great Pumpkin, Gabby?

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

“You must be crazy. When are you going to stop believing
in something that isn’t true?”
says Gabby.

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

Suddenly, there was in the air a loud thundering noise….

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

….and the Great Pumpkin appeared before our very eyes.

Pumpkin Night 2008 Pumpkin Night 2008

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

Ohhhh, you didn’t tell me you were going to kill it!

Pumpkin Night 2008 Pumpkin Night 2008

How will we ever find the treasures the Great Pumpkin had for us??

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

“Hold on, son.  We’ve have something to show you….” dad said quietly.

Pumpkin Night 2008  Pumpkin Night 2008

Pumpkin Night 2008  Pumpkin Night 2008

Pumpkin Night 2008  Pumpkin Night 2008

“You see son, for decades, people the world over have left their own homes
to search obscure pumpkin patches trying to find the Great Pumpkin’s treasures.
Yet all along, the treasures were hidden
within the heart of every pumpkin.

Who would have ever guessed to look so deep inside?” dad whispered to me.

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

I sat there, in the midst of our pumpkins,
and thought about all I had just learned.

 Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

And then it suddenly hit me.  Yes.  I finally understood….

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

The most valuable treasures in life,
are those that are stored within our hearts.

Pumpkin Night 2008 by you.

The End. :)

Papa Jack and Grammy Cill

I love my Grammy and Papa!  Their names are Priscilla (Cill) and Jack and they are my mommy’s parents.  They live about a mile from us and we see them every day.  Grammy grew up in Winnsboro, but Grandfather grew up right here in Columbia.  In fact, we live on the same road that he grew up on!

My Papa is who I was named after.  Jack Evan.  Yep, that’s me!  He’s Big Jack, and I’m Little Jack.  My mommy is their only child, and I am their only grandchild.

So that means I’m spoiled. :)   Isn’t life grand?

My Nursery Theme – Winnie the Pooh

Mommy is really silly.  Really.  All her life she wanted to have her first nursery decorated in Classic Winnie-the-Pooh decor, kinda like the picture here.  And sure enough, here I am, awaiting placement in a fluffy Pooh Bear room.   I would much rather have decorated in sports or a more boyish theme…but don’t tell mommy since it might hurt her feelings!

The colors in my room are light yellow on the walls with a soft pastel green trim that daddy conjured up from a few other paint colors.  Pooh and Piglet seem to be everywhere!  Even my crib has cute little stuffed hundred-acre wood animals in it.  What do they think I am…a little girl??

What am I going to do with my silly mommy? :)   Oh bother.

Welcome to Little Jack’s Website

Well, I finally did it. I’ve brought my unborn son into the computer world. :) With a mommy that loves computers and technology so much, you should have known he would end up here sooner or later!

My name is Lisa and I am going on 25 weeks pregnant with our first child – a boy whom we are naming Jack Evan. In one way, I feel the pregnancy is passing very slowly – until I stop to realize that in just 15 weeks (or sooner) my son will be here in my arms. We are very fortunate to live near my mom’s extended family, all of whom we are very close with. Unfortunately, my husband’s family lives in New York. We love them dearly, and regret that they are not close enough to share little daily happenings with us! There are also many friends and other relatives whom we love but with daily life being so busy, we rarely get a chance to see them.

So…this website will be a great way to share our lives and our baby’s new life (and growth!) with those near and far.

Thanks for visiting and we hope you enjoy reading through the upcoming posts!

Little Jack Horner sat in a corner,
Eating his Christmas pie.
He stuck in his thumb
And pulled out a plum
And said…
What a good boy am I!”
