BabyTales: Oh Where is my Hairbrush?

Narrator: Now it’s time for silly songs with Jack-Evan…The part of the post where Jack-Evan comes out and sings a silly song.

Our curtain opens as Jack-Evan, who is fast approaching his 1 year birthday mark
(and has never seen scissors in his life),
is searching for his hairbrush.

Having no success, Jack-Evan suddenly cries out…

Well, you never used it, and you don’t really need it anymore.
So, well, I’m sorry … I didn’t know.
But
I gave it to your Mama – ’cause she’s got hair!”

Where Baby Jack Does “La La” and Motorboat

Ok, so being a new mom, it constantly amazes me how much babies understand and can do. Jack-Evan began mimicking sounds (I love you, and Hey) when he was 2 months old. He’s also been doing “motorboat” (aka raspberry with the tongue) since he was 2 months old (thanks to my Dad). Last month, my mom taught him how to sing a little song they call the “La La” song – and now all we have to do is say “Jack, sing the La La song for Grammy”, and he’ll grin and sing lalalalala in the tune the taught him. He never lets me get the full song on video though, the little stinker! He seems to know when the camera is aimed at him.

I did manage to catch a little of the LaLa song today while we were out at lunch with my parents – along with a “new and improved” motorboat. Jack use to use only his lips…now, for some reason, he thinks it’s hilarious to use his full tongue. Ahh…the life of a baby.

My First Halloween

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, typed by Mommy)

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

Once upon a time, I went trick or treating with my mom and dad.

Trick o' Treating 10-31 by you.

I was a lion, Dad was a yankee farmer, and mom was a southern country girl.

Since I can’t eat candy yet…

…my Grammy gave me some baby food in my goodie bag!

Next we treated my Abuella (Daddy’s birth mom).

Then we went to Aunt Mae’s house.
(She is my Grammy’s sister)

She’s one of *those* Aunts who is always kissing my chubby cheeks.

We had a lot of fun visiting!

And finally, we made our way over to cousin Tammy’s house…

where we saw Willy Wonka…

…Bat Woman…

…and a really funny guy with yummy hair.
(Mom says he’s my cousin.  I didn’t want to believe her.)

After roasting some marshmellows

We said goodbye to everyone

And went back to my Grammy and Papa’s house
for the rest of the evening.

The End.

P.S.  Please tell mommy to stop eating my candy.
Thanks, Love, Jack-Evan

He Reached for Me!

Ok, I am definately the quintessential doting mom.

My son sneezes and I rush to touch his nose before it drips.  He smiles, and my smile broadens.  He talks baby talk and I talk baby talk back.  He eats a spoon of rice cereal, and I cheer like it’s the yummiest stuff on the planet.  He grows a centimeter during the night, and I notice upon waking.  His laughs become my gaffaws.

Shoot, I can even distinguish his poots in a crowd of people.

So is it any wonder that I fell to emotionally high pieces tonight, when my little firstborn son – on his 5th month birthday, nonetheless – stuck out both of his arms towards me and cried “Mummum!”

He reached for me!

He was sitting on his Grammy’s knee, and became a bit fussy.  I stood up on the other side of the living room and began walking towards them with the intent of cheering him up.

And that’s when it happened.

He actually reached. for. me.

You know….with his arms.  Deliberately.

Booyah!

Papa Jack and Grammy Cill

I love my Grammy and Papa!  Their names are Priscilla (Cill) and Jack and they are my mommy’s parents.  They live about a mile from us and we see them every day.  Grammy grew up in Winnsboro, but Grandfather grew up right here in Columbia.  In fact, we live on the same road that he grew up on!

My Papa is who I was named after.  Jack Evan.  Yep, that’s me!  He’s Big Jack, and I’m Little Jack.  My mommy is their only child, and I am their only grandchild.

So that means I’m spoiled. :)   Isn’t life grand?
