Little Jack’s Corner

This weekend has been pretty crazy!  Right now I’m sitting on the floor,
on the only available comfy spot in our whole living room - our area rug.

I just love the look of my rug on the floor! (It was a birthday present from Kevin in 2006.)

All last week we were working like madmen tearing up our living room, moving all the furniture, and ripping out carpet everywhere for our new floor.  And on Saturday it was finally installed!

At 10:30 am the 2 men from Floor It Now arrived to start the work.  I thought I would be able to stay since the laminate floor is floating (no glue) but when they took out the saw and I started smelling the dust, gag city kinda exploded within my pregnant self. :)  So I headed over to mom’s for the day to avoid the sawdusty smell and Kevin stayed home to supervise.

They were *almost* finished at 4:30.  I say *almost* because the guy who had the airgun equiptment to do our molding along the baseboards didn’t show up - so we had to schedule the molding to be finished at 3 pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

As of today, though, everything is completely finished with the floor and Kevin is painting our old baseboards white tonight to match our molding at the bottom (that’s the blue tape you see in some pics along the bottom of the wall) - and then we’ll start putting furniture back…tonight!!!!!!!!  Whoohoo!  It’s TERRIBLE to have your living room (and dining room - since that’s where we piled all of our furniture and stuff!) a wreck.  I told Kevin I’ll definately be glad when all the furniture is back so I can start cleaning again.

He just raised his eyebrows and laughed at me. 

But seriously, it’s a mess!  This is our dining room right now.  See the huge entertainment center?  That was a pain to move (well, for Kevin…lucky me got to play the role of the helpless pregnant female..hehe).  Our couch is behind it, and then behind our couch is a huge box full of all the books from our living room bookshelves.  

And…then.. …the bookshelves are in the guest room…along with..the dining room chairs…the printer…and the parrot. GAH!

…so, you see, I can’t wait to get my house back in order!  At least tomorrow I’ll probably have a chair to sit on again in here. :)   But, of course, it’s definately worth it.

And the best part?  It’s completely paid for.   We don’t do credit (not since November of 2006), so saving the money for this endeaver was a slow process and you know what?

It’s definately worth it.  Ahhhhh…..
