Mommy & Daddy’s Song

As told by:   Little Jack (Thursday, Jan. 24th, `08) | |

Mommy & Daddy, September 24, 2005Like most couples, my mommy and daddy have their own “song” that is very special to them.

Their first real date was on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 - a week after they first met.  Before that date, they had talked on the phone many hours and seen each other at church.

They went to the Riverwalk, then to Zestos to eat ice cream, and went back to mommy’s house where she lived with her parents.  That night, an episode of “Rockstar: INXS” reality show was playing (Mommy says it was a rock version of American Idol).

The episode theme was original songs and each contestant had to sing a song they wrote.  One contestant, Marty Casey, debuted his original song called “Trees”.  Even though they had only known each other for a week, they both felt that that song was meant for them!   Mommy says she knew that night she would never date anyone else.  Daddy told mommy he loved her a week later.

Daddy sings this song to Mommy whenever she is feeling bad.  It makes them both feel really good when they hear it and reminds them of their special relationship together.

“TREES”  by Marty Casey

I don’t wanna go through this life
Without you by my side
And I have got it all worked out
In my head
Here’s how it’s got to be

It will be you and me up in the trees
And the forest will give us the answers
It’ll be you and I up in the sky
Its a combination for disaster

We, we make believe
In a world we rule together
We, can build our dreams
With a knot tied tight to last forever

It will be you and me up in the trees
And the forest will give us the answers
It will be you and I up in the sky
It’s a combination for disaster

Yeaa-yeaaa-yeaaa-yea-yea-yea
We got one shot
So let’s use our imagination
Yeaa-yeaaa-yeaaa-yea-yea-yea
You’re all that I’ve got
So where do we go from here?

It will be you and me up in the trees
And the forest will give us the answer
It will be you and I up in the sky
It’s a combination for disaster

And I know there’s more for us in this life
If we hold on
If we hold strong
I know there’s more for us in this life
Can we hold on, can we hold on?
