Great Website of Valuable Character Traits
The other day I was studying on homeschooling methods through Ambleside Online (a site dedicated to offering free homeschool curriculum based on Charlotte Mason’s teaching methods) and stumbled upon a link to a terrific text based site that teaches character traits.
Character Journal describes itself as a “free e-zine sent periodically to those who request it. It is designed to encourage and assist parents teaching Godly character qualities to their children. It includes suggested Bible studies, projects and ideas to help apply the quality. ”
This website is a compilation of all of their ezines on character traits. The set-up is simple, everything is textbased (no annoying graphics), and there is a lot of “meat” and good, good stuff to read here!
Here is a list (with links!) to the traits they have covered so far. I’ve been reading through them for days and have enjoyed it thoroughly. Check it out!

Hi! My name is Lisa. I am 25 years old, and am married to the most wonderful man in the universe. I also just gave birth to my first son, Jack-Evan (aka "Little Jack"!). I love Jesus, my family, the ocean, good books, and motherhood.

These are great resources. I teach my children based upon CM principles and have never seen this link. As a parent I am dedicated to teaching my children Biblical charter traits. I think that this has been the hardest task that I have ever had to achieve. Mos ly because the very same charater traits that I teach I myself must also demonstrate for my children. I must admit that many times I have fallen short. Gods grace is sufficicient for me and I have found that so is the grace of my children. They are so forgiving when we fall short. They have taught me a thing or to about character.
I enjoyed your comment on my post “Submission” I also responded. Thank you for sharing.
Lisa,
Thanks for compiling this great list of character traits! CharacterJournal.com looks like it is a wonderful resource to parents. I’ll have to tell my friends about it, thanks again for sharing about it.
I’d also love to share another great character education resource to parents, which is a startup company I’ve been working on that is just now launching. It’s called Doodlestix (http://www.doodlestix.com) and it teaches your child character traits and values from the perspective of another child. Just wanted to share it with like-minded parents and encourage everyone to try out our free one month trial!
