3-6 Months

Our Son, the Genius

Posted on Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Time:  10:47 PM, the other night.
Place:  Our bedroom.
Jack-Evan, who is now a hearty 6 months old, is lying between his father and I, enjoying some cuddling & play time before lights out.
As I’m finishing up the story book I’m reading, he turns his little head towards me and says MumMum - then immediately turns his head the [...]

My First Halloween

Posted on Monday, November 3rd, 2008

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, typed by Mommy)

Once upon a time, I went trick or treating with my mom and dad.

I was a lion, Dad was a yankee farmer, and mom was a southern country girl.

Since I can’t eat candy yet…

…my Grammy gave me some baby food in my goodie bag!

Next we treated my Abuella [...]

I Went to the Park Just the Other Day

Posted on Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, typed by Mommy)

I went to the park just the other day

To swing on the swings

And watch Daddy play

I laid in the grass

And watched an ant pass

When I went to the park just the other day

I slid down the slides

And played at the end

Then swung from the bars

And caught up with my [...]

Happy Birthday to My Friend Tyler

Posted on Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, typed by Mommy)

Once upon a time, I went to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese.

My friend Tyler had turned 1 year old!

We sang some songs….

Played some games…

…and rode some rides!

I even gave my friend a new toy.

I can’t wait until I have my 1st birthday, because mommy will [...]

Sleepy, Sleepyhead

Posted on Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Hello.  Jack-Evan here.
Just wanted to say…

Goodnight. Sleep tight.
Don’t let the bedbugs bite!

We’ve Got to Save the Honey Bees

Posted on Saturday, October 25th, 2008

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, typed by Mommy)

Hello.  Jack-Evan here with an urgent message.

In my quest to save the ducks,
I have stumbled upon an even more important mission.

We must now work very hard to save the Bees, for I have just learned that
they lead a very hard life behind a small piece of glass,
slaving [...]

We have movement, oh yes…yes we do.

Posted on Friday, October 24th, 2008

Just yesterday, Jack-Evan - who will be 6 months on November 4th - learned how to put both of his legs under his body at the same time.  You know, in that famous crawling position that all babies are known for.
And just like that, today it seems like a lightbulb has turned on in his [...]

Things I Never Thought I Would Say #23

Posted on Friday, October 24th, 2008

“Kevin, come here, you have GOT to see the color of this poop.”
~ Said a few hours after the introduction of carrot baby food.

Oh be careful little mouth!

Posted on Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Mommy told me I should not be eating my toes.

She says although most humans have their foot
in their mouths during adulthood,
she doesn’t want me starting this early.

Happy Babyween!

Posted on Friday, October 17th, 2008

Today we had (yet another) Sears photo session at noon.
Kevin is off on Fridays, so it’s always nice to having him accompany me on these trips!  Plus it means that we get to have an excursion to the mall food court afterwards.  And, since Jack-Evan usually passes out after his pictures are taken, we get some [...]

Family Portraits

Posted on Friday, October 17th, 2008

I have to admit, I am addicted to capturing memories.

Kevin and I practically live at the Sears portrait studio.

Jack is only 5 months old, yet we’ve already had 8 sessions.

C’mon…low as their prices are, who can resist??

One day, my sweet Jack-Evan will be all grown up.

The chubby baby cheeks, the toothless gums,
and the milky breath [...]

That Very Fair is Very Unfair

Posted on Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, Typed by Mommy)

Once upon a time, I went to the fair.

I was immediately taken aback at how foreign everything looked.
This place is definitely very different from my home.

Since my mommy and daddy are now old,
they claim that they can’t ride the rides anymore.
I asked them if I could ride.  [...]

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Jack-Evan!

Posted on Saturday, October 11th, 2008

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, Typed by Mommy)

“IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, JACK-EVAN!”

Hello!  Linus…uh..I mean, Jack-Evan here.
Has anyone seen my pencil and paper?  I have a letter to write.

Dear, Great Pumpkin.  I’m looking forward to your arrival on Halloween night.
I hope you will bring me lots of presents….

“Who are you writing to?”  asks Gabby the [...]

Yay for Pumpkins, and Poo on Dead Batteries

Posted on Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Doncha know that when you want your camera the most, that is the moment you are least likely to have it available?
For one, you may remember that I have been obsessed with collecting pepsi points this year.  I was bound and determined to earn 75 points before the contest ended so I could get this [...]

He Reached for Me!

Posted on Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Ok, I am definately the quintessential doting mom.
My son sneezes and I rush to touch his nose before it drips.  He smiles, and my smile broadens.  He talks baby talk and I talk baby talk back.  He eats a spoon of rice cereal, and I cheer like it’s the yummiest stuff on the planet.  He [...]

Anniversary at the Park

Posted on Friday, October 3rd, 2008

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, Typed by Mommy)

It all started innocently enough.
I was just beginning to think of dinner, when mommy announced we were going to the park.

It was the same park I went to a few months ago, but this time we were going to have a picnic!  It was the 3rd anniversary [...]

The Queen (Ant) and I

Posted on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

(Voiced by 5 month old Jack-Evan, Typed by Mommy)

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Who would have thought I would encounter royalty so close to home?

You see, I was playing on my blankie and asked Mommy to join me.

I also asked a passing Ant to be my friend.  She said she was the Queen.

I [...]

Attack of the Killer Spider!

Posted on Saturday, September 27th, 2008

(Voiced by 4 month old Jack-Evan, Typed by Mommy)

Today we went to the river.

…or..at least, that’s what Dad said it was.

It was a bit chilly, so I held onto my Pooh bear to keep him warm.

Mommy didn’t have a Pooh bear, so she held onto Daddy.

As we were strolling down the pathway, beside the river, [...]

Do You Find Parenting as Funny as I Do??

Posted on Friday, September 26th, 2008

…I mean, I completely LOVE it.  My belly hurts quite often from all the laughter that goes on around here.
When I was pregnant, I tried to read as much as I could about pregnancy, childbirth, and babies.  And (it seemed) everyone and their brother had parenting advice to pass on.
So why didn’t anyone ever tell [...]

Profound Conversations at Our Home

Posted on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Time:  Dinner, at our house.  6:35 pm.

Jack-Evan:  :::::::ppphhfffbb:::::: (insert grunting sounds, face turns red)

…Kevin and I look at each other…

Jack-Evan:  (insert sounds of machine gun quality baby toots)

…Kevin and I look at each other again, and burst out laughing…
…Jack looks back at us…

Me:  We better stop laughing.  He’s going to do that in public [...]

Dinner and a High Chair

Posted on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Monday evening was the first time we put Jack in his high chair. We got it out of storage a few minutes before dinner, and we were so excited that we didn’t even think to adjust the straps before putting him in it. Poor son. At least it kept his head from [...]

The First Real Meal Deal

Posted on Sunday, September 7th, 2008

(Voiced by 4 mo. old Jack-Evan….typed by Mommy)

Uh… Mom… What in the world is THAT??  It has little lumps in it.
“Son, that is called organic rice cereal.
Now that you’re growing up, you get to eat some!” says mommy.

Ok.  You say I have to eat it?  Let’s go.  I’m ready to do this thang!

“Don’t worry, son, it [...]

A Baby’s Laugh: Jack Bein’ Funny (Video)

Posted on Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Who doesn’t like hearing a baby laugh?  Jack-Evan has begun laughing full force.  Smiling at him will get him to laugh.  Pootin’ on his belly will get him to laugh.  Tickling his cheek will get him to laugh.  But there is nothing that will get him to laugh as hard as eating his feet.
And that’s [...]

Jack Meet’s His “Twin”

Posted on Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Hey mommy!  Are you going to play with me?

“Well, Jack,” says mom, “I think there’s someone you should meet first.
Turn over and look behind you…”

Whoa!  Who are you??

Wait, what do you mean your name is Jack-Evan TOO???  How is that possible?

Mommy, is that really possible?  I thought I was the only Jack-Evan.

I dunno, maybe I’ll [...]

My First Trip to the Beach

Posted on Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Here we go!  We’re leaving for the beach.  Mommy says I’ll have fun.

After mommy dresses me, I play with my cousin Jeana for a while.
Then we head out to see this thing they call the ocean.

Mommy, why do I taste salt on my fingers?

Lil’ Robbie, do you taste salt??   …….I still taste salt.  Strange…

(Those big [...]

We’re still alive and kickin’!

Posted on Thursday, August 21st, 2008

I just noticed that I’ve only posted a couple of times this month…and nothing in the past week.  I suppose I have bloggers block.  teehee.
We’ve had a great month so far.  Jack turned 3 months old on August 4th and we had his photos done at Sears.  The portrait package will be ready [...]

Jack’s 3 Month Pictures

Posted on Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 Jack's 3 Month Pictures

This past Friday we went to have Jack-Evan’s 3 month photos taken.  What fun that was!  Unlike his 4 day old shoot, which he slept through, he was all grins and giggles in this one.  He is definately a little flirty hambone.
Here are the proofs we got back…

Jack-Evan is 3 Months Old!

Posted on Friday, August 8th, 2008

Gosh, where is the time going to?
My baby boy just celebrated his 3 month birthday a few days ago.
It’s been such an awesome, spectacular, fantastic 3 months!!  I never knew that something so tiny and helpless could overwhelm me with so much love.
Here are some of the milestones I’ve watched him reach so far:

Tracking an object
Smiling
Laughing
Turning [...]
