26 weeks down… 14 more to go!
Whooohooo!
I hit the big 2.6. today in pregnancy age. :) Only 14 more weeks to go before my official due date.
:::tick tock, tick tock:::
Here is what KidsHealth.org has to say about the 26th week.
Your Baby’s Development
Although your baby’s eyes have been sealed shut for the last few months, they will soon open and begin to blink. Depending on ethnicity, some babies will be born with blue or gray-blue eyes (which may change color in the first year of life) and some will be born with brown or dark eyes. Eyelashes are growing in, as is more hair on the head.
Your baby, weighing a little less than 2 pounds (907 grams), still looks wrinkly but will continue to gain weight steadily over the next 14 weeks until birth.
…isn’t that just the cutest thing to know? My baby’s little teeny tinsy eyelids will soon begin to blink just like a “normal” person! How sweet is that!?
It’s weird to think that I am carrying a being that already weighs more than a pound inside of me. Am I a bad mother for thinking of long parasites when visualizing things inside the body? You know, the kind ETV or TLC always shows, where a person holds up a wad of worms weighing a couple of pounds. Ew.
Although it’s a miraculous thing, and I completely love it (most of the time), I guess one never quite gets use to the fact that something else is alive inside of them. Something else that is requiring your own body’s life source to stay alive. It’s definately quite a lot to ponder…and becomes even more ponderful the more you sit and ponder over it. :)
Ok, well maybe that’s enough pondering for now.
