So, what did you decide??? I know there are a lot of things I would do differently if I had been more knowledgeable, had different circumstances, etc.

I discovered your site as I was doing an internet search for weaning my co-sleeping son. As I read through your site, it is amazing that we have a lot in common, but I do not want to freak you out and assure you I am not crazy. I don't think I've ever even commented on someone else's post before. Anyway, I want to encourage you with your decision to use a midwife at a birthing center (a Christian one at that). Unfortunately your first birth story is way to common and very unfortunate. To make a long story short (if you want my full story, I'd be happy to share with you) I used a midwife, had a homebirth and had the most amazing experience. Two things I believe were key for me: My husband and I took birth classes, The Bradley Method-education is so important. If you understand your body and how God designed it perfectly to give birth and how normal a process it is, it takes away so much of your fear. Second, I read a book that was suggested to me, Supernatural Childbirth by Jackie Mize and it gave me a whole new perspective on "pain" and what the Bible says about it. Fear is the main thing that causes pain in birth, so somehow you have to learn to relax. I hope this helps and encourages you in your decision. Again, if you would like my full birth story, let me know.

Yes you can! My first was born au natural in the hospital, the second will hopefully come at home and in the water, in just a few short weeks. You can TOTALLY do it if that's what you decide is best for you and your family, and the centre sounds wonderful! Try reading Ina Mae's Guide to Childbirth - if you're almost certain that you can have the "birth of your dreams" this book will most certainly convince you! Good luck!
