I am pregnant with my second child. And I am happy to have found this website, I only wish I could find advice on PREVENTING these horrid nightmares. I too, had them with my daughter, and I believe they are my worst fears living out. Just wish they could stop.. : / I would like my sleep back.

Glad I found this website... I've been awake most of the night. I'm 39 weeks pregnant and I had never had nightmares until last night. Every time I went back to sleep, it started right back where it stopped... This is my fourth baby, I have had multiple pregnancies, and I can not figure out if I've done something different or what, but I need to stop the nightmares... I'm going to change my diet around today and see if anything changes. I'm exhausted... all I'm looking forward to is if these don't stop, they'll only last one more week because my c-section is a week from today.

Thank you so very much for your information!!! I have had absolutely terrible nightmares lately. This is my second pregnancy, and I have so many dreams of the most horrible things happening to my son, husband, and other family members. I wake up shaking or even crying!!! I had a dream this morning about my husband being murdered and I woke up around 4:30. I couldn't not settle myself down and every time I closed my eyes I kept seeing the same images over and over again. Finally, I just got up. This is just awful!

Wow, I'm glad I'm not alone! Thank you for sharing in your post, and thank all of you ladies who shared about your own experiences. I'm 14 weeks into my 3rd pregnancy, I have a 2 y/o son and my last pregnancy was a miscarriage. I've been waking up repeatedly every night for the past month because of intense dreams and nightmares. I was doing a little research on this today and found your blog. None of my dreams actually have to do with my baby, most of them are just horrific, freaky dreams from out of nowhere. A few weeks ago I dreamt my 2 y/o son was lost at the beach and we never found him--that dream has terrorized me since. And when I was pregnant with my son I remember having repeated dreams that my husband died or disappeared. I"m probably dreaming my worst fears, or something. Anyway, it's good to know this is normal. Not fun, but at least normal. I just wish I could get some good, uninterrupted sleep!

I am 26w 4d...i feel like i cant ever get any sleep...i wake up scared to death bc of the terrible nightmares i have. I am not sure where they are coming from. I have had many dreams since i been pregnant..and now im up at 5 in the morning bc i when i try to go back to sleep i fall right back into the same horrible dream. I was dreaming something not even related to my baby boy. I was dreaming a man was biten by a dog with rabies and was trying to bite me and kill two other people i have never seen before. It's like the rabies possessed him and at first it was like i was watching a movie about this and then all of a sudden I'm in the movie. I'm scared to go back to sleep. It took me forever to finally fall asleep bc i can't get comfortable and the baby is constantly kicking. I know its just a dream, but i constantly wake up afraid and scared to go back to sleep. I started researching about pregnant women with nightmares..and i see that im not the only one having bad dreams...but i am gonna take some of the advice and pray before bed and hope to get a good night's rest.

I am soo glad to have found this site. Last night i had a horrible nightmare (which are increasing regularly) about my son whom is about to be 2. I am 32 weeks pregnant and my husband was literally trying to wake me up because i was crying and gasping for breath. Not only did I terrify him, I just keep remembering what happened to my son in the dream and can't shake the feeling it gave me. Thanks for making me feel like I am not crazy.

I have woken up from nightmares the last 6 nights in a row. Im 30 weeks pregnant. It's comforting to know that other poeple are getting them but I do worry sometimes about the baby as I always wake up screaming and my heart beats really fast as I'm so terrified. Does anyone know if this would distress the baby?

Everyone says this is normal! I have the scariest dreams...ones that wake me up in panic and keep me up scared to death. Never are these dreams about my baby, but about house fires and crazy animals trying to kills us and they seem so real and vivid that I often times can not shake the fear. Pre-prenancy I always dreamt and although they were mostly strange...they are never terrifing!

I just found your page googling "pregnancy nightmares." I'm just over 7 weeks pregnant. I've always had vivid dreams, but it's very rare for me to have nightmares. Not anymore! Just had three the last three nights in a row. They're awful! But it helps to know that I'm not alone. Thank you for posting this.

I am so glad I found this! I thought I was going crazy or something...I too have had vivid nightmares for the past week (I am 24 weeks along with our first baby). Last night I dreamed that I woke up in a hospital, my baby was gone and I was too drugged to do anything. Yikes. Anyway I am glad I found this page, makes me feel a lot better:)
