I'll bet that bread was delicious. I felt the same way when made my first loaf. I haven't used whole wheat flour yet but I will soon since my hubby doesn't like to eat white bread because it's not as healthy as whole wheat.

You have commented that your mother in law brings you alot of p-nut butter. Mine too. I guess since we have had so many great B1G! free sales here in SC.

P-nut butter last a long time in the pantry and has a good amount of protein. Their are also some great peanut butter cookie and granola recipies on recipezarr as well.

Okay, you've convinced me to try this recipe! I have a really yummy bread machine recipe for Honey Oatmeal bread that my family just GOBBLES up, but I will try this one asap! We like to eat whole wheat products around here! No margarine around here though, so I guess I'll try it with real butter and see how it turns out. It couldn't be as bad as last week when I forgot to add the flour to the chocolate chip oatmeal cookies I made! Eeks! LOL
Thanks for your WFMW tip! God Bless!

Hi,
I came here from Rocks in My Dryer. Just wanted to say that I too have gest. diabetes! What a shocker that was. We have been reducing sugar for a while around here, but I was surprised by how many things are "carbs". I am on insulin now, but still have to watch what I eat. I HIGHLY recommend a bread making video, complete with recipes, from Marmeedear.com. I have been making the most delicious whole grain bread with her help! Also, for a less "brown" bread try white wheat flour (made with white wheat berries vs. red) it is much more golden and so yummy!! And yes the yeast needs that little bit of sugar to survive and multiply. Trust me it is still so much better for you than anything store bought!! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

i'm off to try this recipe. i think it'll be my 7 millionth bread recipe; maybe this'll be the charm, but i refuse to put margarine in bread -- glad that substitution works. but why did you want to put less sugar in? i figure if you're making it whole wheat, knock yourself out on the sugar, baby!
