It seems so scary but it is definitely managable. I had GD with all three pg -- requiring insulin. The main thing is that it takes planning so that you don't end up having to make food choices when you are hungry. If you follow the food plan, you'll be full. On the plus side, my weight gain was strictly controlled.

My mom had gestational diabetes with Natalie. At least you only have two months! We're praying for you a little Jack (and Kevin too)!

<blockquote>Thanks so much for the helpful post! I've been so worried all day and reading everything. My entire menu says "low and fat free" this and that, so I dunno, unless it's just a precaution?? ...We have another Jack too - my dad. :) We're naming the baby after my dad and my husband (Kevin). We combined their names and ended up with Jack Evan. This will also be my parents first grandchild (I am an "only").

Thanks again for the encouraging words!
Lisa

Hi, Lisa. Congratulations on your little baby. All the hard stuff will be over before you know it and you get such a wonderful reward at the end. I have a Jack, too, my 9th baby, almost 9 years old. With my 10th, I had very high sugar and needed to be careful, too. I'm not sure why they told you lowfat as I just needed to be careful of carbs (sugar). I felt so much better when I started eating more carefully. If you find out that you don't need to be so careful of fat, I recommend whole milk plain yogurt (I like Mountain High brand) with a handful of berries (they are not as bad on your sugar levels as bananas and some other fruits). You can use frozen berries, too, as long as no sugar is added. Throw in some nuts if you like those and it makes a yummy parfait, plus you get lots of protein and calcium. Whole milk yogurt, because of the good bacteria through the fermentation, does not do a number on your sugar levels like straight milk.

I hope the rest of your pregnancy is uneventful!
