Out of the Mouths of Moms

This morning started out great.  Dad popped by at 8:30 am to pick up our church bulletin (I am the “bulletin person” at our church) and I decided to snooze some more to give my husband a bit of alone time.

10 am rolls around, and I roll out of bed to prepare for church.  Being pregnant, the last thing you want to fiddle around with is getting all dressed up.  Luckily, our church is very low key and casual.  So… I put on a nice, comfy outfit and glanced in the mirror.

Wash face?  Check.  Brush teeth?  Check.  Run fingers through hair?  Check.  I thought I looked ok.

Walking back into the bedroom where my husband was getting ready, I smiled at him and he winks and tosses out “Gee, I wish I looked that great when I just wake up!”   My husband has a way of knowing how to be perfectly sweet at the perfect time.

After a few minutes of watching a hallmark movie playing in our living room, we headed out to church.

Service starts at 11 am, and we were a bit early so we decided to stand around in the Lobby talking to my uncle (the pastor) and my parents.  I looked at my mom and smiled.

And what did she do?  She raised her eyebrow at me, grinned….

…and said…

“Uh, you need to brush your hair don’t you?”

Not one “Hey, Hi, How ya doin, How’s little Jack?”…. Nothin’.

Hrmph.  *sniffle*

Talk about making me self concious!  And what do you suppose happens next?  Our music director, Ms. Jean, walks up to me and asks for me to handle the overhead powerpoint music display.  The overhead powerpoint music display that happens to be front and center, right behind the pulpit.  The overhead powerpoint music display that happens to be front and center, right behind the pulpit that requires pre-programming before the service in order to get all of the songs ready for 11 am start time.  I had to go up immediately.

…sigh…
